Care

This is an active breed requiring slightly more exercise than most toys. She enjoys a moderate walk on leash, but especially likes the chance to nose around on her own in a safe area. Much of her exercise requirements can be met with vigorous games in the yard, or even house. Despite her hardiness, she is not a breed for outdoor living. Her coat needs brushing or combing every other day.

The Silky Terrier is a bundle of energy. They love to be given chances to run and play, but must have a tightly fenced yard. They also enjoy brisk walks and playing ball. The Silky is able to do well in an apartment, although they are also an active indoor breed. It is important they are kept busy and social to discourage boredom.

Attention, grooming and socialization.

Health

The Silky Terrier's coat is highly susceptible to tangles and matting. They require daily brushing and combing. This breed requires a deep commitment from their owners. To keep the coat lustrous regular shampooing is necessary. The Silky is prone to several disorders including luxating patella, tracheal collapse, and epilepsy.

Training

The training of this dog is easily to make and with pleasure, because it is intelligent, submissive and eager to learn and understands easily what is required. It has a moderate level of activity, it likes walks but not too long and it is not fussy if it is not taken out for a walk in a day. It accommodates with the master - more or less active.

Coat & grooming

To keep the fur beautiful and healthy, this one must be brushed and combed daily. This breed rarely moults.
